Let’s Get Digital Is Free. Maybe Forever? Publishing Resources

I first published Let’s Get Digital in July 2011, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and then released a (much) revamped and updated version in September 2014. Combined, both editions have sold well over 25,000 copies at this point, which is about 24,000 copies more than I ever hoped. So my sincere thanks to all of you for that – particularly the generous authors who contributed to the book and the army of writers recommending it to others. Speaking of which, a friend told me the other day that she was grateful I’d written the book because it gives her a quick and easy way to answer emails from newbs. Well, let me tell you, I’m totally fine with monetizing Read More…

Sales Figures For May – A Decent Start

I started this blog at the beginning of April at the same time that I made my decision to self-publish. I thought I would document the process of an unknown, unpublished writer as they attempted to get noticed out of the near-million items in the Kindle Store. People warned me that there was so much crap out there that I would sink to the bottom unnoticed. However, that just strengthened my belief that if you put out a professional product (well-edited, good cover, competitive price, catchy blurb, clever marketing), that you would stand out even more.

Transfection Released Across The World

My second release – Transfection – is a technothriller with old-school sci-fi undertones. A molecular biologist is on the run, but he doesn’t know who wants him dead… or why. I only uploaded Transfection a couple of hours ago, but it’s already for sale on Amazon! For only $0.99! Here’s a quick taste of what you get for $0.99: Molecular biologist Dr. Carl Peters is under pressure on two fronts: his research grants are disappearing and his marriage is falling apart. But when medical researchers discover that genetically modified animal feed has tainted the food chain, he finally gets the funding he always dreamed of. Dr. Peters discovers the reason behind the cancer link with GM food, but it’s so crazy, he Read More…

The first release – IF YOU GO INTO THE WOODS – is available now from Amazon. Exciting News & Great Early Reviews – The Short Story America Anthology, Volume 1

I have some exciting news. A few months back Short Story America chose one of my stories to appear in their Anthology of their Best Stories of 2010. The hardback edition was released today. My story that was chosen is called Into The Woods. The collection is a monster: 56 stories in total – 544 pages – which should keep you going for a while. I’ve read a few of the other stories in the collection and they are excellent. There are paperback, e-book, and audio (both MP3 and CD) versions planned for later in the year, but this hardback version is a limited edition, signed by the editor T.D. Johnston (while stocks last). Here are some early reviews:
